Post Op Days 2 and 3

Everyone...Gabe is awake!! Fully awake...when we visited him yesterday evening, they had removed his oxy tube and the lil rascal was watching anpaman dvd...when he saw us he started crying...but soon he was ok and we kept him occupied with songs and talking to him. According to the doc he is doing really well. Wow...this boy is amazing, super amazing...

And today, we saw him again in the evening. He smiled and made funny faces..but after awhile I think he got really hungry and kept telling me `nana` which means food or water....pooor boy...the doc said too much liquid isn`t good for him now, he is better taking abit of solids like banana or yogurt...so Daddy went downstairs to get him the banana, but Gabe was already screaming and whining and it took awhile to calm him down.

So to start off the nurse fed him his banana, but only a little bit and of course it wasn`t enough for him andhe wasn`t too happy.

But the good news is that he can be transferred to the normal ward tomorrow morning and start eating his meals!! yippe....this is way way fast to be transferred,but it means that Gabe is really recovering well and I`m so happy my baby will get to go home soon.

Post Op

Gabe`s operation went smoothly, and he is now in PICU recovering. Everything looks good for now, but we will have to wait for the next week or so to see if there are any infections. Already we went to see him and he does look good, the surgeon pointed out to us that his lips are now a healthy looking color...yay!!!

So we`ve crossed the big hurdle, and now we`ll have to wait and see on his recovery. If all is well, he will stay at the hospital for the next 2-3 weeks and then go home. I can`t wait..

Thank you to all for your loving prayers and kind words...I`m just glad we have a lil mighty warrior...

Pre-Op Admission

The day is finally arriving...Yup, GAbe`s big surgery.　So right now, we`re in the hospital, we checked-in yesterday morning and went foran ECG and chest X-Ray. Today, they did some blood tests and basically we`re done till tomorrow morning. Gabe will be going into the PICU at abou 8am, and the operation will start at about 9,30-10.00am. It will last for 6 hours if all is OK and yes it`s super scary coz this is a major surgery, even more so then the one Gabe had when he was 17 days old.

So, yes I`m anxious and worried, how could i not be. I still remember very clearly the last round when his surgery was supposed to be only 4hours but instead it took up to 7hours. I nearly had a full on panick attack. And to top it off, timing sucks coz i can`t stay overnight with him during his hospital stay this round, whereby recovery period is about 3 weeks. I wish i could, but I`m not up to it this round. I feel so so guilty and even a lil angry that i can`t.

Timing sucks bad and to be honest it wasn`t even entirely my choice to end up like this. I was robbed of that decision. Just sucks.

So i just hope baby is OK and sleep well through the night. I will try my best to come in the mornings earlier and leave only after he has fallen asleep otherwise i think the nurses will not be able to handle him.

Happy 2nd Birthday Gabe Darling

It`s Gabe`s 2nd birthday today...how fast time flies. My baby is growing up so fast. Again, this year we didn`t get to have a big party because it was too close to Gabe`s major operation and we didn`t want to risk having many people over in case he catches any virus. So, it was just the 3 of us.

But this year, i made an effort to custom order a cake, and boy was i glad i did it. The cake turned out beyond my expectations and the maker was so wonderful as well. Of course, it was a Mickey-themed cake since all Gabe ever watches and gets excited about is MICKEY. So the cake was delivered to us at 4pm and we waited for Daddy to come home and cut the cake....the filling inside was choco banana and boy was it yummy.

But a few days back, some of our friends did drop by for lunch and surprised us with a cake..and yummy yummy food. It was so nice of them and i was so happy. They even bought Gabe presents....Thank You so so much

Umm....Mummy and Daddy have not gotten Gabe a present but we WILL. We`re just looking for a really good one....

So, we love u Gabe, we want you to grow stronger and stay healthy and be a loving, cheerful cheeky boy...Happy Birthday

Lake Kawa Getaway

To celebrate Mummys birthday, we went for a 1 night getaway to Lake Kawaguchiko just to sleep and relax. We booked a luxurious private onsen room which was worth the money. The room was huge with a big tatami living area for Gabe to roam. We thought that since he loves bathing in the tub, he`d love the onsen...so so wrong..the moment we dipped him in and put on the hand floats for him, he screamed and screamed....sigh..perhaps water too hot for him? Anyway it must`ve scared him coz when we bathed him he kept whining too....there goes onsen fun...so the only person who soaked in it was Daddy...oh well..

For dinner we headed off to eat the Hotto noodles, which was yummy but i couldn`t eat much of it anyway. We didn`t do much else coz there wasn`t much else to do..so back to hotel to chill in our lovely room.
