THE S.H.O.E.S

Ok, i think abit back, i mentioned that Gabe needed custom made soles for extra support because his feet tend to roll towards the sides, making it harder for him to stand and balance. So, well we did make a pair, cost us JPY36,000....but we lost IT!!! Yes, we left it at a restaurant...wait wait..NOT WE...rather Terry forgot to take it.

You see, Gabe was playing with his shoes, which he loves to pull the velcro straps, so his shoe kept dropping. So we decided to take it off, and Terry put it on the chair NEXT to him. Had a happy lunch, off we went, then later in the evening, i realised Gabe didn`t have his shoes on, and i checked the bag..nope...dun have...so yeah kinda figured we left it..Went back, asked them for it, they said there is no shoe....so yeah great, some loser decided to steal Gabe`s shoes seeing that it was brand new and from Miki House which by the way cost us JPY8,000 for the shoes alone...I know it`s not nice to curse people, but i sincerely hope that whoever STOLE my son`s shoes, trips and falls into a mahhole and breaks his/her leg...LOSER.

Sigh, anyway so we had to make another pair and spend another JPY 46,000, plus the hassle of going to the hospital again for fittings. And finally we got it few days ago....







Our therapist said to buy High cut shoes for extra support...and see the soles....yup extra support too...that`s why they cost so much, that`s like SGD600!!!!!! He`s barely 2 and yet his one shoe costs more then my 10 pairs. This time round we`re gonna be keeping an eagle eyed watch over those babies...and if Gabe loses it again, it`s coming out from his TRUST FUND......umm....wait...he doesn`t have one...ok....Grandpa, u wanna make a trust fund for him??????

Feb Doc Update

Good news everyone....we went for a check up today..and, Gabe has put on quite abit of weight. He is now 7.64kg!! Big big leap from last month`s 7.165kg....we have been praying and waiting for such an improvement in his weight so that he can do his op...

So Dr H has booked Gabe a catheterization check up on 22nd April. This check up is to determine in detail his heart condition and flow so that the surgeon can determine which best method to proceed with in surgery. Gabe will need to be hospitalized for 4 days in the General Ward. So we hope he continues to do well in feeding and maintain his weight steadily.

I am so so proud of this lil boy...finally we are making progress and i cannot wait for him to get better and have more stamina.

Hyugo`s Birthday Party

On Sunday 24th Feb, Gabe attended his very first birthday party in Japan!! It was Hyugo`s 1st Birthday, held at his home. And boy was the whole place nicely decorated with Mickey Mouse, which made Gabe so excited. And the home cooked food was so yummy...And i think coz there was a big space to play around, Gabe had so much fun playing with a small ball rolling it around all over the floor.

Thank You to Hyugo`s Mummy, Eelise for inviting us over and the lovely food....we can`t wait to see you guys again.

Hair Cut Time!

Gabe finally had his hair cut!! It grew too long and he looked like a lil hippie boy, so we had no choice. And i was afraid to cut it myself, so we went to Zusso Kids to get it done..yup cost us JPY3,990.....

Soo...what u think? Some may like it some may not..His daddy says it`s too short, Grandma doesn`t really like it...I LOVE it, so does Uncle Ken.

Therapy Update

Alrightyyy, update on Gabe`s therapy progress. He`s doing great but not walking yet or standing unsupported. It`s gonna take awhile to master this, so i have to be really patient.

right now in therapy, Gabe`s been doing activities that requires him stand up alot and move from one table to another. And he needs to do more `sitting on rides with feet on floor` to help strengthen his knees and make him realise he can move around if he uses his tiny feet.

So here`s a glimpse at recent therapy session

Not sure if you can see clearly, but there are 2 tables with different toys on it, and Gabe has to transfer himself between these 2 tables by twisting his body and moving his feet

Here he is having fun but while strengthening his knees and learning to push with feet

And here...well he`s just being cheeky when he discovered Mummy on the othe rside and wanted to play `Peek A Boo`

So the therapist has asked me to let him do it more at home and sit on his toy car more often and help him discover how to use his feet to move around. Lots of hard work, but this boy is strong n determined...
