I Got a Panda Sticker..

Gabe went for his check up today, everyhting looks good, especially his weight..he's now at 4kg, so Dr Hayashi says looking good..

However, he did say that as Gabe grows, the shunt as it is artificial will not. Therefore, it may cause his cyanosis to worsen. For example if he cries too hard, he may turn a lil blue at times. But it should be ok when he calms back down. If it doesn't, then we'll have to bring him to hospital and they will need to insert another shunt. Because he is simply too small to close his hole in heart & repair the pulmonary artery valve as well. They need him to be at least 8-10kg to do that.

However, Dr H says everything looks good and we shouldn't need to worry about that now. Ok so basically, after hearing that for me that means not letting Gabe cry too hard and long, so the boy is gonna be a spoilt brat..sigh...

He also took a jab today as winter is fast approaching and we want to prevent Gabe from catching any cold viruses. Poor boy cried hard, but just for awhile...for his bravery, he got a pretty lil panda sticker..check it out...and he's wearing new clothes too..isn't he cute....

My Best Friend

Yes everytime we have a nappy chnage at his mat or when he gets play time there, he turns to Mr Monkey and somehow some sorta weird communication goes on. Gabe starts his jibberish talking and smiles n coos at Monkey...seriously..especially in the mornings when he wakes..he'll just lie there n babble n smile..

Perhaps it's all the color?? So i guess Monkey is here to stay permanently wherever Gabe goes:)

Can we put baby for sale on Ebay?

Yes, those are my exact thoughts when i'm going a lil crazy at 3am or 5am or 7am..Gabe has been really waking through the nights past week. He used to sleep at 10pm, but we decided it was too late for a wee baby, so we brought it forward to 8-8.30pm...thing is he got up at 3am to feed, then at 5.15am, then at 7.15am-8am...that's too many right for a 3 month old? i though they were supposed to get up like maybe just once for a feed...so naturally sleep deprived Mummy went nuts..i mean i sleep at 11pm after all the puping, eating dinner, wash up n stuff, then i take like about 45mins-1 hour to fall asleep, so u can imagine...i mean i am fine with the one time 3am feed then till morning, but again at 5am at such short intervals? And worst part is he drinks a puny 40-50ml only...So yes i get pissed...i don't do well without enuff sleep..

I think i read like thousands of pages of info on the net...i tried a last feed at 11pm in hope he'll last till like 6am...nope, he got up at 3.30am, then didn't really wanna sleep, till i rocked him awhile longer..then got up at 7.15am!!! this time he didn't want to sleep..period...he used to wake at 9am...

Experts say we shouldn't rock baby, just let them fall asleep on their own...err....not with Gabe, he'll cry n cry, n we're afraid he'll turn blue or worse...

"When baby sleeps, mummy should sleep too"...this is what experts say too for mothers to get enough rest during the noon times...blah....Gabe sleeps for like 30mins in the afternoons..and it takes me 45 mins toput him to sleep...whatever free time i have, i pump milk...even if i don't by time i can fall asleep, he'll be awake by then....aaarrgghhhh!!!

So you see why i thought of Ebay???....yes i know...this is motherhood, but really i can't wait till he skips the 3am feed...please....please...

Happy 3 Months

Hello Gabe Gabe,

Happy 3 months old!! You're a big boy now, so you need to behave yourself more...you've come such a long way baby..

You're now so naughty at times Mummy wants to smack u really hard, but then again when u smile, you melt our hearts and we just wanna kiss you..

You talk to yourself alot these days especially when you're in your crib. You're definetely a morning baby, always so happy n smiley then...but in the afternoons, you're a horrid boy you know. Mummy has a hard time getting you to sleep and even then you sleep for half an hour or so only..

But Mummy can see you growing day by day. Your feeding is really good now. We pray you continue to be strong and healthy and stay happy baby.

Tummy Time!!

We visited a DS support group on Sunday. They were gathered to practice some light massages on the babies. Unfortunately, we arrived late and class was over, but the good thing was many were still there to gather and share.

There were at least 10 babies there, majority from 5 months to few years old. Gabe was the youngest fella there.....and the smallest size!!! Those babies, though older, they are chubby lil things with thunder thighs..seriously put Gabe's to shame. Anyway we introduced ourselves and chatted to some couples. Next to us, this couple's son 5 months old, was drinking his milk, and when we say the amount our eyes bulged..think was about 200ml...no joke!! we exchanged numbers and hopefully will be able to meet them again soon. This group meets once a month so we're hoping to catch the next class. Sorry no pics as this was our first time so it would seem rude to arrive late and then take pics...next time

So in preparation, i decided Gabe needs to start Tummy Time. On the web some say to start only when baby has stronger neck muscles, others say to start even few weeks from birth..kinda confusing, but i decided to start Gabe anyway. Lil guy is OK with it, doesn't fuss too much. But he prefers tummy time on my chest, coz after that i pat him to sleep there n then. Today while we were at it, barely 5 mins in, i saw him suddenly still n quiet. I sneaked a look at his face, and there he was, fast asleep...so much for tummy time;)We had 2 sessions, once was in the early afternoon, the other was in the evening

I Love Gabe

There are so many things i love about Gabe. He's generally a sweet baby (ok...at least when he's not in a cranky mood and not wanting to sleep). He's now at the stage where he makes alot of noises, especially when you are too slow in giving him his milk. He "ai" alot too to get your attention. He smiles alot now when i play with him.

Though i scold him alot for not sleeping and not drinking all his milk sometimes, i treasure the afternoons with him very much. Our quiet bonding time together, just me n him. When he is unable to sleep, i put him on my chest and he's an angel. It's pure bliss mostly, being with him.

Momma's Drying Up

This is depressing and worrying..my milk supply has not gone up much even with drinking that milk up tea. And Gabe is drinking like a lil chugger now, up to about 620ml on good days. My milk supply is only about 580ml on a good day. Obviously, not enough and i am panicking coz i do not want him to start on formula yet, at least until his second op is done.

So, having no choice, i've decided to start on good ol fish soup as last resort. When Mummy was here, she made me this every week and me milk supply was like 1,200ml per day!!

So went out today bought 4 days worth of fish & papaya supply. This is be my daily vitamin. Pray pray it works. I used to joke to Terry that i can sell my milk, now i think gotta ask him to fork out money to buy from people....
